Cris Cyborg, a Mixed Martial Artist champion from Brazil, and arguably one of the world’s greatest fighters, tested positive for steroids in 2011. The announcement would compromise her title and eventually her career. Though she has tested negative ever since, Cyborg continues to find herself vilified by the media and her peers. This mishap was not unique to Cyborg, nor is it to mixed martial arts. Though performance-enhancing drugs plague the fighting realm, female athletes have found it increasingly difficult to rise beyond the same mistakes made by their male counterparts. In this episode of Broadly Meets, fighter and host, Jill Morley, talks with Cyborg about mentorship, steroids, and archenemy, Ronda Rousey.
